At the time of this entry in 1860, Isaac S. Battey employed nine men and was running an impressive business within the Dean Planing Works at 95 Dorrance Street. (cor. of Dorrance & Friendship) It appears his major products were moldings, clapboards, doors & brackets. Wm. Dean who owned the building and steam power within, had 26 employees and ran a separate operation manufacturing packing boxes and other articles valued at $ 39,000 for the year 1860. |
